The Luck of the Irish: History, Folklore & Festivities
Do you really know the story behind one of the world’s most beloved holidays?
St. Patrick’s Day is more than green beer and shamrocks. It’s a celebration layered with ancient myth, pagan symbolism, religious tradition, immigration history, and a whole lot of storytelling.
In this lively, one-night personal enrichment experience, we’ll dig into the origins of Ireland’s most famous holiday and explore:
-
The real St. Patrick and the legends that followed
-
The pagan roots woven into modern traditions
-
Why shamrocks, snakes, and leprechauns matter
-
How Irish immigration shaped the American celebration
-
Where corned beef and cabbage really came from
-
And how the holiday evolved into the global phenomenon we know today
But this isn’t just a lecture.
We’ll taste traditional Irish foods, sample festive beverages (non-alcoholic and spirited options), explore Irish music and folklore, and uncover the stories behind the customs you’ll see everywhere on March 17.
Whether you’re Irish by blood or simply Irish for the day, this class will prepare you for the festivities with a deeper understanding — and a little extra sparkle — before the big celebration begins.
Come curious. Come hungry. Wear green if you dare.
