Course Description:
Community health workers (CHWs) are trusted, frontline advocates who build bridges between individuals, families, and health care systems, helping people access care, understand health information, and make meaningful changes that improve quality of life. This immersive hybrid training experience blends online learning with face-to-face sessions and guided service projects to help you gain the knowledge, confidence, and practical skills required to thrive as a CHW.
Led by Dr. John Kraemer, you’ll dive deep into essential public health topics such as community engagement, advocacy, chronic disease supports, client-centered counseling, health equity, care coordination, and outreach strategies. Guided discussions, real-world scenarios, and collaborative learning activities make this more than a course, it’s a transformational experience that prepares you to make a measurable impact in the lives of others.
Format: Hybrid (Face-to-Face + Online)
Schedule: Begins March 18, 2026 at 6:00 PM — Meets weekly on Tuesday evenings through June 23, 2026
